It is a bit difficult getting started with SN. Once you get past the start-up and learning curve, SmartName enables you to produce pages that look closer to real web sites than the typical Pay Per Click landing page. SmartName will not accept domainers with low quality domains, and they will not accept domains with apparent Trademark issues. They would be happy accepting someone with a single outstanding domain, as they have many excellent one-word .com and .net domains already parked with them. The site allows you to customize the look and information on your pages, so there are many options to consider. To obtain the average $60 RPM, we use no Pop-Ups. As good as SN is on the average, we still find that some types of domains do much better at the other PPC domain parking services. In particular, casino, poker and foreign traffic tends to do better elsewhere. The Stats leave room for improvement. You can look at how your domains did yesterday (but not today, except for traffic numbers which are real time). You can look at how your domains did month-to-date, either as a portfolio or by domain. However, you cannot specify 3 days ago or any specific interval of time for the portfolio when you look at it by domain. The Stats are sometimes late (so do not get too excited when they are late by hours or even days over the weekend). The best aspect of the stats is that when you look at either your entire portfolio (by date) or an individual domain (by date), you get results for the last 30 days (adjustable to a different period of days) and a summary at the bottom of the results by month for the last 6 months (also adjustable). This enables you to look at recent results AND long-term trends. SmartName does pay slower than most PPC parking services. While most pay in 10 to 20 days from the end of the month, SN takes 50 days. However, it is usually worth waiting the extra time since the payouts are so high. (NameMedia has said that they are changing SmartName to a net 15 days).
